What if the Pundits Are Wrong?

I believe they are and so does this writer.

The bottom line is, Obama was weak against Hillary, even though polls showed him way ahead of her during the primaries. But he barely bested her. And now, the polls that are more trustworthy, have the race very close. With a lot of undecideds only a few weeks out.

That suggests that a lot of people being polled do not want to say who they will vote for. And I think that does not bode well for Obama.

Of course, I could be wrong. But something about these polls smells fishy to me. The ones where Obama is ten points ahead., When you look at the intense partisanship in the press, you have to concluded that some pollsters are biased. Many of these polls have Dems weighted almost 2 to one against Republicans. No wonder they come out the way they do. Yet, when you think about it, Obama should be doing even better in those polls than he is.

If the public really hated Republicans that much, and thought McCain was Bush redux, polls should not be this close.

I think, in these troubled times many people would rather pick the devil they know than the one they don’t. McCain has been around a long time and they more or less know what he’s made of. Obama still has a lot of mystery surrounding him.

Less than two weeks to go, and I expect it to remain fascinating.

  1. The Stark article is very good. Anyone who doesn’t want to see the Republicans win this year should not take for granted that this election is won. Not yet. I’m sending 25 bucks to the Obama camp (my first contribution).

  2. Obama knows he is in for a fight. Especially when the most accurate poll off the 2004 election has him only 1 point ahead nationally.

  3. With the $640 Million the Obama campaign has taken in (never mind the legalities), he should be ahead a hell of a lot more than he currently is.
But he isn’t. That does not bode well for Senator Government.
