Whoops.

I was so busy with things on Monday I forgot to post anything.  I try to post something once a day, at least. Ah, well.

Lots of things are happening in my world at the moment. I am starting a new job this week that I have been waiting to do for a year now. It will be a very exciting time for me, based on what I know right now. I will get into it later, but I can tell you that it will involve me moving to Vancouver, Washington in a month or so. I like Vegas, there is a lot to do and see. But I have been here 10 years and I’m due for a change. I miss trees and should see lots of them up there. I’m from Northern California originally, so I should feel more at home up there. I have friends living in the area, so that make sit easier, also. And the job is very cool. More info to come.

I am finishing up my comic 2 To the Chest. It should be all done in the next couple of months and then I will decide how I want to bring it out. I am polishing the script for the last issue right now.

I’ll be going to Eastern Europe in a couple of weeks. I plan to take lots of pictures while I’m there. I should have some interesting travel stories as well. The last time I went over there was in 2000, two years before I started blogging.

I’m trying to sort out the things in my house, getting ready for the move. I have a lot of work to do in that area. But I plan to get rid of a lot of stuff, clothes, books, furniture, etc. I’ll just take the essentials. And stuff I don’t want to part with. Moving is a pain.

So, if I haven’t been posting much lately, it’s because I’ve been pretty busy with stuff.

So, what else to talk about…

I was disappointed that Drive was canceled after 4 episodes on Fox. I wa enjoying it. 24 seems to have jumped the shark this season. It’s getting way too silly. Heroes has been great, though, even though they rip off a lot of their ideas from comics. I think the Sopranos and Entourage have been good this season. For once the Sopranos has been focused. I wish they did that sooner. Now it’s almost over.

The last couple of movies I saw: Smoking Aces: Enjoyed it. It’s fun, wacky stuff.  Half Nelson: Over-hyped crap. The Queen: Excellently done.  Eragon: Star Wars with dragons. Whatever.

Reading: The Children of Hurin by JRR Tolkien. I am also burning through Life Interrupted by Spaulding Gray. It has his last, unfinished monologues which he never performed. It tells the story of his car accident in Ireland which made him depressed ever since, and led to his suicide a couple years ago. I am a fan of his, and they are re-releasing his movies on DVD. So I got the two I was missing. I only had Swimming to Cambodia on VHS before and Gray’s Anatomy on DVD. Now I also have Monster in a Box. If you haven’t seen his stuff, I think it’s great. It’s not for everyone, but I’ll tell you, the first time I saw Swimming to Cambodia, it was on VHS. I watched it and thought it was so good I rewound it and watched it again. I have only done that with one other movie.

Looking forward to Spiderman this week.

  1. I can certainly empathize with you on the stress part Hud...I want to move back East to be closer to my family, but I want to make sure there’s a good job for me there.
Plus I gotta figure out how to come up with the dough to replace the motor in my truck. OWIE!
    Anyway, Good Luck Hud.

  2. Vancouver, eh?  We may run into each other sometime, then.

BTW:  How are you liking “The Children of Hurin”?

  3. You’ll be just 2 hours away from the Port Bistro - the best food on the Peninsula.  IMHO.

Looking forward to pix from your trip to Europe.
Ha! I was afraid they would do that to ‘Drive’, so I didn’t invest my TIVO time to it. They’ve done it to me before...the latest one was ‘9’.
How was “The Children of Hurin”? Just got mine from Amazon.
All our best to you....don’t worry about the posts for now...tho we’ll miss ya!

  5. I’m onmly a chapter into Hurin. It’s written in a style similar to the Silmarrilion. Ialready know the story of Turin, which is a great one and which this book covers. I got side tracked by the Spaulding Gray book.

  6. Congrats on the job. As much as I hate it, change is always good.
I’ve always wanted to see that part of the country.
