Moore Re-Runs

Michael Moore wants to make a sequel to Fahrenheit 9/11, his last successful movie. Sicko bombed, as I said it would.

Moore’s decision not to make his next film with the Weinstein Co. comes after “Sicko” failed to ignite the box office. Film, which took on the U.S. health care system, grossed $24.5 million domestically and $11.2 million internationally. Topically, the film didn’t resonate with overseas auds.

To be fair, those are good numbers for a documentary, but Moore probably thinks he should be making the kind of numbers Fahrenheit did. Here’s the problem, that was then, this is now. When his next film comes out, a new President will have been elected. Bush bashing will be quaint nostalgia, like Nixon bashing is for old hippies. And on top of that, Michael Moore isn’t the celebrated darling of the left he once was. The truth is, his inability to tell honest facts has hurt his credibility with many who were once his core believers. Fahrenheit 9/11 was revealed to be made up of one lie after another. Sicko was full of ludicrous claims about Canadian, British and Cuban health care.

He’s got an uphill battle, and I suspect he will find a lot less people interested in thi rehash than he thinks. Especially if Obama were to win.
