North Dakota and Montana have an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil in an area known as the Bakken Formation.
A U.S. Geological Survey assessment, released April 10, shows a 25-fold increase in the amount of oil that can be recovered compared to the agency’s 1995 estimate of 151 million barrels of oil.
Technically recoverable oil resources are those producible using currently available technology and industry practices. USGS is the only provider of publicly available estimates of undiscovered technically recoverable oil and gas resources.
New geologic models applied to the Bakken Formation, advances in drilling and production technologies, and recent oil discoveries have resulted in these substantially larger technically recoverable oil volumes. About 105 million barrels of oil were produced from the Bakken Formation by the end of 2007.
Iran is a beautiful country with vast ceder forests and snow capped mountains. It was one the most modern country in the Middle East. When I was in the Air Force, they trained Iranian pilots at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. I remember seeing them on drill there. I even talked to a few of them, they were all pretty friendly. And I have known many Iranians after the revolution who stayed here because they couldn’t go back. What the Islamic fanatics did there should be a warning to us all about Islamic fanaticism.
Naturally, the statists are opposed to these protests. The same people who opposed everything Bush did, right down to his toothpaste selection are calling anyone who protests today a racist, crazy and a right wing fanatic. Even though plenty of the people there will be Democrats, too. Once again, we see that the only free spoeech lefties believe in is that which supports their arguments.
The people protesting today are doing it because the president’s budget has the potential to bankrupt our economy. He wants to spend more than all the presidents in the history of teh US combined. And in order to do this he has to borrow large amounts of it from the Chinese.
Normally, when you have less money coming in, you cut expenses to make ends meet. Obama’s strategy is to “spend our way out of debt” and in order to do this, in other words, he has to borrow from gangsters. Think about it, he is putting us in debt to one of the most totalitarian nations on earth. A country that one of the largest militaries on earth and is constantly challenging us and seeking the domination of space. As well as constantly looking for weakness in our infrastructure.
Naturally, there are plenty of Americans concerned about this and they want it known to the government. So they are doing peaceful protests. In response they are getting a barrage of claims that they are racists for questioning Obama, traitors, etc. This is from the same people who tried to actively undermine Bush’s policies why chaffing under the claims from some bloggers that they were acting like traitors themselves. Except in that case, they were since many were attacking our military as well as even trying to block our supply lines.
None of the tea party protests have been violent so far, but there have been reports that by some groups will try to disrupt them. The movement is growing exponentially despite the MSM’s best attempts to ignore it.
Naturally, because Fox news is covering the events today, they are trying to claim its all a right wing conspiracy. The truth is people from all parties are involved. More and more people are doing what I did as a teenager and dropping the party affiliations. Going independent.
Apparently, to the establishment, there’s no legitimate reason to question their decisions. Well, they’re getting a response whether they like it or not.
Well, last night proved once again it was mostly down to three contestants this year. Adam in the lead, Allison on his heels and Danny Gokey running a close third.
It was movie theme night with Quentin Tarantino as coach. He seemed to do a good job directing them but a few fell short of the mark. Namely Matt, Lil Rounds and to some extent Kris. I have a feeling it will be Matt who leaves tonight, but it could be Lil. She has turned in good performances in the last three weeks but not good enough to please the judges and you can tell she’s frustrated. Simon seems to have written her off. He basically told Allison she is the only girl who can win this season. They’ve decided to make it a horse race between her and Adam.
Anoop once again turned in a great performance. One of his best. It’s doubtful he’ll win, but it will be interesting to see how long he lasts.
Adam’s performance was great, doing Steppenwolf’s Born to be Wild from Easy Rider. An interesting choice since the rest of the song choices were from the 80s up. I do think Adam is relying too much on his rock screechy voice lately. The audience seems to eat it up but I’m finding it to become a crutch for him. But we know he can do other styles. We’ll see how next week is.
I pretty much agree with Simon on Danny that his cover of Endless Love was technically beautiful, but he should have made it his own. That was the only thing you could complain about. The guy always turns in a purely professional performance each time.
Poor Matt was good again, but just not up to the level of the others. And Kris did a great job but the song was not well known and kind of quiet. I think Lil Rounds will be in the bottom the also, but may make it through again. She better figure out a way to impress the judges though.
Anoop is the dark horse this year. He only got in on a whim of Simon’s after failing the Wild Card round. And yet he has lasted a long while and may make it as far as the final 4. I think it’s very possible that if Danny or Allison stumbles (unlikely) he might even make it to the top three.
But from where we stand now, it’s the Allison and Adam show. Like it was the two Davids last year. And it’ll be interesting to see who wins the final prize.
UPDATE: I was right except Lil Rounds was not in the bottom 3. Anoop was. So Anoop may not be as secure as I thought. The judges pulled the save which means next week there will be two who get eliminated. Ouch. And it’s Disco week, which could be either good or bad depending on song choice. I think Lil Rounds should pick a Donna Summer song.
The way groups like ACORN, who have a vested interest in this administration’s siphoning of America’s wealth, have tried to demonize and mis-characterize the tea party people is a clear lesson in how little they have to do with the public and have everything to do with the corrupt power structure.
Any group who defends exorbitant taxes and more government control, and tries to attack and discredit those opposed to it are enemies of the people. Point blank.
ACORN has tried to steal elections, now they are tying to disenfranchise the voters again. And the other groups jelping them are all enemies of freedom. They are outing themselves. Make note.
Amy, whose dental problems were caused by untreated gum disease, does not go out any more. And when she looks in the mirror she hardly recognises the face staring back at her.
‘Even with my mouth shut I look different,’ she says. ‘My cheeks are hollowed and my face looks thinner. I look like an ugly, old woman.’
Amy’s story gets worse. First, doctors have told her they can’t fit a set of false teeth until her gums are sufficiently healed and that could take six months. But she has also been warned that there is a slim chance they will never recover enough for dentures to be fitted.
The NHS is getting worse all the time, like socialized medicine elsewhere. This is not the direction we want to go.
I’m glad Obama did the right thing and dealt with the pirates militarily. However, the way he hemmed and hawed in the beginning and acted like we might not have the authority was lame. As soon as the pirates were dealt with he took all the credit for it which was ridiculous. The US Navy dealt with them. They deserve all the credit. There was no need for a presidential order. It’s absurd the administration made it seem like that. There are maritime laws covering piracy and they gave the navy all the authority they needed.
Once again the Dems like to take credit for things they really had little to do with. This was a matter for the American Military. Not politicians. It wasn’t even an international incident since the pirates are from a country that is essentially lawless. A failed state.
We’ll see if Obama takes things to shorts of Somalia and blows up some McMansions, as a message to stop the piracy. As long as they think it’s profitable, they will keep doing it until someone makes it a nightmare for them. I have a feeling he won’t. He’s already wimping out on Iran.
