  1. Nice that he calls the people who developed this “engineers”. Too often these days, particularly on the science for the masses channels on cable, they call anyone who works with technology a “scientist”. Two completely different animals. 

      •  The “engineerguy” in the vid refers to how engineers developed the techniques to move the information off the CCD and to make it see color. If you watch NASA TV or almost any science program on PBS, they call folks doing the same process “scientists” which is wrong – but sounds cooler for kids.

        The scientists in this process, probably solid state physicists, were the guys who quantified the properties of silicon and once their theories were proved by experiment, turned the theories into methodologies and the engineers took it from there to actually invent a device which would work like a camera.
