Well, I saw the first Matt Smith episode and I can happily say he is totally convincing in the role. On top of that Steven Moffat, the series’ new executive producer and writer of the first episode, did not disappoint. Moffat wrote the best episodes of the David Tennant run and he started off with a very clever and original story called The Eleventh Hour. The Doctor has a hot new companion, too named Amy Pond. When he first meets her she’s a little girl. But then he has to take off and when he comes back she’s all grown up.
Smith is only 26 years old but he plays the character with the total confidence of a seasoned veteran and he manages to carry off that wacky Doctor persona perfectly.
From the preview clip they played at the end of the episode, it looks like this season will be a lot of fun.
